The sales in supermarkets in Brazil increased in the past year

Yesterday (30.01.) Gave the Brazilian Supermarket Association ABRAS (Associação Brasileira de Supermercados) the balance of the sales of 2012. According to the sales index, sales were up 5.3 percent compared to last year. In December, the figure was 5.37 percent over the same period of 2011 and was higher by 28.71 per cent in November 2012. According to the ABRAS the sales figures of the 35 most consumed products increased by 7.27 percent over the past year (from 318.64 reais in December 2011 to 341.80 reais in December 2012). This increase in the past year is directly coupled with the higher incomes and maintaining jobs, commented Fernando Yamada, president of ABRAS.
The products, which were sold in December, most are cassava (+8.39 percent), frozen chicken (+8.08 percent), rice (+4.36 percent) and potatoes (+3.47 percent). Returned are the sales of the following products: toilet paper (-1.14 percent), salt (-0.69 percent), beef from the front area of the cow (the best beef parts, -0.59 percent) and roast and ground coffee (-0.57 percent). At the moment there was the largest increase in potatoes (+56 percent), onions (+49.03 percent) and rice (+40 percent), while the largest decrease was in beef from the back of the ox (the most expensive pieces, -6 , 74 percent) or the sugar recorded (-3.10 percent).
